MOST REACHED FOR: Mascaras

Ahh Mascara, my favourite cosmetic item. Period. I am always amazed how a person's entire face can change with a squeeze of a lash curler and a swipe of mascara.
I suppose you could call me a mascara junkie, over the years I have tried zillions, but there are a few I just keep reaching for. Best part? Not a single one of them is over $12.

For flirty fluttery lash lovers: Almay Get Up and Grow (I wear waterproof) beefs up fine lashes making it look like you were blessed with many more than you have. I don't love this for length, but I do like to layer this over a lengthening mascara if I want the best of both worlds.

For defined long lash lovers: Cover Girl Lash Blast Volume (again in waterproof) garners the most compliments from strangers for me. It makes my lashes super defined, uber long and is totally buildable.  This has been my daily go to lately for bright eyed doll eyes.

For the non waterproof lover: I've been using the Cover Girl Super Thick Lash Mascara for over a decade now on and off. Yep, that long! This is the BEST mascara I have found that gives volume and a bit of length, but most importantly holds a curl best out of all the non waterproof mascaras I have tried (oh so many, drugstore and high end) In case you didn't know, waterproof formulas dry quicker to the wax content, making them better choices for those who have straight hard to curl lashes, like me!)
In my younger years I remember being impressed how good this looked even after a all nighter of partying... a true test I tell you!

The bigger the better lash lover: Maybelline Colossal Volume Express (again, waterproof of course!) is the best thickening mascara I have tried. It beefs up my scrawny lashes making them look sooty and black and smouldering. Not the best for length, but I love to layer this as a last coat over a lengthening formula for out of this world lashes.

For the "Don't forget the lower lashes!" lovers: The teeny tiny brush on the Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara (the only higher end mascara I buy!) makes getting lower lashes as well as those sneek inner and outer lashes a piece of cake. It's a smudge proof formula which means it comes off with warm water and cleanser if you don't like using a dual phase eye makeup remover, yet never smears or flakes. A little gem, I'd say!

Now, before you say - what about the much hyped higher priced mascaras, such as Benefit They're Real, Lancome's many offerings, Diorshow... just to name a few? I've tried them. Some of them are lovely (some not so much!), but at the end of the day I have not found a mascara that out performs my drugstore favourites, thus making it work 2-3 times the cost.

So tell me, what is your favourite mascara? Do you have a high end/luxury priced mascara you love? Have you tried any of my favourites mentioned here?
