It's been a while since I had a really fabulous, love-at-first-use mascara to review for Mascara Monday, but the day has come once again folks! I snatched up the L'Oreal Voluminous Feline Waterproof Mascara on a whim the other day, and I am so glad I did! It claimed to do everything I wanted in a mascara in just one coat, so of course I had to put it to the test!

Firstly, the packaging is going the same way all the Voluminous mascaras are except for the classic; An oblong plastic tube that makes it near impossible to photograph without it rolling around (thank you double-sided tape!). Voluminous Feline is in a gold and green tube with an animal motif on it which screams tacky to me, but heck if it works, I don't care!
L'Oreal refers to the brush as "quick charge" which I am guessing just means it houses plenty of product with just one pump in the tube. The brush is a plastic/synthetic brush which has very short, flexible bristles that spiral up the length of it. I find that they really allow me to get right to the root of the lashes which I normally struggle with when using brushes like this. The brush allows great product dispersion throughout the lashes and builds really nicely on itself. I always recommend applying one eye at a time with these types of wands because they generally are paired with a quick-drying formula, though I did test out applying another coat after it had dried and managed to get a decent application.
The formula is mousse-like, deep black in pigment and looks slightly glossy up close. I find it holds the curl I put in my lashes brilliantly, and the short bristles allows me to wing out the corners in that "feline" look that I love. I wish the brush didn't have a rounded tip on the end because it doesn't really lend itself to the inner corners, but the formula is forgiving enough to separate after application. I also find that once it dries, the mascara holds up all day long without flaking or smudging. The only day I noticed some minor smudging on the brow bone, was a particularly long overtime shift at work with the air con broken. It didn't own me anything after a test like that! At night, I definitely need a dedicated eye makeup remover to take off, which I am fine with.
