Carrying on with my Most Reached For series is the product we've all reached for at some point - concealer. Whether it is to cover up a spot or two, brighten dark circles or give that extra little coverage some of us need, no makeup bag is complete without one!
Here are my picks for my most used concealers - some hyped and some lessar known.
Now, I'll start right in and say that there is no drugstore option here. Not because you can't find decent drugstore concealers, but because I think it can be quite a bit more difficult to find good shade matches from the drugstore in the right formula. I've tried so many I've lost count, but these ones I keep reaching back into my drawer for.
Possibly the most well known and talked about is the Bobbi Brown Corrector; My shade is Light to Medium Bisque. These correctors are specifically meant to be used under the eyes to counteract dark circles, with their slightly pink peach tones (which is know to cancel out blue). I put off buying this for some time, but finally gave in to the hype and am glad I did. A quick swipe and my dark dreary looking under eye area looks bright and even minus the caking that a high coverage concealer would often leave.
Another great product that looks lovely under the eyes but as well as the face is the Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer. Besides the fact that the tube houses a massive amount of product, the formula is super pigments and amazingly creamy. It blends in beautifully and covers spots like a dream, as well as brightens under eyes. A great do it all concealer to keep in your arsenal. I do find I need to set this with a powder if I don't want it to look dewy, but it never looks cakey or dry on my skin. The downfall? Not a huge shade range so if you happen to fall in between shades and don't fancy mixing you might be out of luck.
Urban Decay's 24/7 Concealer Pencil is the newest try out in my collection, but I love how incredibly creamy this is for a pencil or stick formula concealer. I've used it under my eyes in a pinch, but this really performs well for spots, as well as works great for using to clean up the corners of the eyes when you want that defined cat eye look. A downfall would be the fact that it does need to be sharpened (why oh why do so many higher end brands not make their pencil and crayon products self sharpening?)
Finally a product that isn't marketed as a concealer, Mac Full Coverage Foundation, yet is deceivingly similar to its baby sister, the Studio Finish Concealer. This basically is a massive version of their concealer ( how cheeky Mac!), but I don't find it drying like I do the concealer. A great over all product if you want something that can function as both foundation or concealer, and comes in a trillion shades. For foundation I love using this with a buffing brush that I have wet to sheer it out, and as concealer I go right in with my finger or a brush. Dries to a satin finish and the amount of product you get is gonna last ages...
What is your favourite concealer of the moment? Do you struggle finding concealers from the drugstore, or prefer them over their higher end counterparts?
