When it comes to brows, Anastasia Beverly Hills is the brand to beat. The Brow Wiz won me over some time last year (after debated dropping $28 CND on it for ages, only to find out that it was in fact completely worth it) More recently there have been some new developments in the brow-power brands line, but I could never find a shade match... until now.
If you are brunette you probably know the pain is real when it comes to finding the right tone of brown to shade in eyebrows. Unfortunately I was cursed with very fine, sparse brows - which as a teen in the 90s was a trendy blessing, but as an adult, not so much. I've filled them in every day for years and tried many a powder, wax, pencil and gel. When the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade came out I had a hallelujah moment... until I realized none of the shades matched (all too dark and warm). I had been using the Brow Wiz in Medium Ash, but will the amount of filling in I have to do that was becoming a spendy little endeavor.
So imagine my excitement when the brand announced a couple more new shades about 6 months back... only to find out that STILL none of them worked for my cool dark brunette hair.
At this point I'd seriously written off the product as something that wasn't meant to be.
Then a couple weeks ago I noticed there was a shade on Sephora.com that was never there before, Ash Brown. Sounding promising, I checked my local Sephora to find it had recently been added to the shade range. Guess what folks? It matches. Cue angels singing.
You can see on the swatch above that it is ever so slightly cooler and darker than the Medium Ash Brow Wiz.. which is exactly what I needed. I use the recommended #12 brush which applies this precisely enough that I feel it mimics natural brow hairs quite well. The spooly on the back makes blended the colour out and keeping things not too harsh a breeze.
Dipbrow is a waterproof pomade that promises to be smudge free and suitable for even humid climates or oily skin, and I would 100% agree with this. It stays on all day long for me, never looking patchy or crusty like some tinted gels can get. You can see in my before and after above how sparse and fine my natural brows are, and then how much thicker they look once I've filled them in with the Dipbrow.
Housed in a glass jar, you get a hefty 4 grams/0.14oz of product for $23 Cnd/$18 USD which I think is a total steal. Even better? The brand is 100% cruelty free.
I realize a product like this can be both intimidating to use and easy to over do. Which is why I'm working on an updated brow routine using my Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Ash Brown soon!
