There are some things in this world that are just worth paying for. I've found myself collection more higher end and luxury makeup products over the years, simply for the fact that I find the quality generally reflects the price (not always, but often!). Here are six of my current favourites that are pricey, but totally worth saving your couch change for.
Illamasqua Hydra Veil needs no intro here. I love the stuff - heck I'd bathe in it if the idea wasn't ludacris. Nothing keeps my makeup looking smooth and fresh longer than this stuff. The only reason I use other primers is because Illamasqua is no longer sold in North America and ordering from the UK online is a pain in the you know what.
Diorskin Star Foundation is something that I forget how good it is until I use it again, then promptly remember why it is worth the price tag. Its so lovely on my dry skin, blends in like a dream and then looks gorgeous all day long. Dare I say it almost gets better as the hours pass? I know... unheard of. I'm also happy to say there is a really decent colour range for all skin tones.
Another cult favourite here on GLG are the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blushes. They are the only blushes that stay on my blush-eating face all day. Something about the texture of these never looks powdery or dry either, and did I mention how well they last!? On the pricier side for blush, but the nine (9!?!) of them I own proves their worth.
Something I don't hear nearly as much hype about, but is totally worth it are the Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eyeliners. Perhaps a bit old school in theory, these liners need to be mixed into a paste (I prefer Make Up For Ever Aqua Seal for this as it makes them totally waterproof) and then applied. So why worth it? Because the black is the blackest of any liquid/gel/cream liner I own, and once it sets its there until to wash it off. I own two shades, Black Ebony and Blue Marine. Bother are stunning and completely worth the extra effort and price tag.
My next pick has really long name for a super amazing product: Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain.... phew! Don't be fooled into thinking drugstore "dupes" are the same thing as these, they aren't. These amazing glosses give the lips a stunning colour that can be built from sheer to opaque and then actually stick around... for a while. The shade selection is gorgeous and unique, which my favourites being #27 which is a gorgeous true peach, and #16 (shown) which is the most unique bright magenta plum colour. Seriously when I wear this even the cashier at my local grocery compliments me on it.
Finally my top pick is for nails in the form of Formula X for Sephora Nail Polishes. At $13-$17CNd a pop I would consider these pricey, but there are so many amazing shades in this range I feel it's totally justified. Like any line there are a couple dudes, but I've tried many more hits. My favourites are Centigrade (shown), Solar Power, Thrilling, Outrageous and Love Chemistry. I also love the base and top coats!
What luxury items do you have that you think are completely worth the price? Which ones do you think aren't justified with their cost?
