The Colour Line Up | The Navy Edit
I know the mention of blue eyeshadow often raises brows and has people cringing thinking of teenage beauty nightmares. Me too, me too.
Having said that, I've really been enjoying rocking some navy blue on the eyes these days. My preferred method is in the form of winged liner, or smudged around the lashes, and these are my four picks for my favourite navy eye products.
Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Deep Night - This is a gorgeous pigmented buttery smooth navy blue. It's not too dark, and not chalky like so many dark blues can be. This looks amazing as a soft liner or swept into the crease.
Mac Contrast Eyeshadow - This was probably the first dark blue eyeshadow I ever bought as an adult (previously be experiences with blue shadow were regulated to frosty baby blue in my teen years) I think this is technically considered a velvet shadow by Mac, but it has a slight pearl to it that comes out a bit when it is really buffed in. I love this as a lower lash line smudged out colour and it pairs really well with soft golds, like Rice Paper.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Sabbath - A creamy matte navy blue liner that stays blue, doesn't go patchy and wears well in the waterline. I love the staying power of these pencils and especially love that Sabbath is a creamy texture rather than a glittery metallic blue, which would bring me back to 1996 in a bad way.
Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Liner in Blue Marine - I've mentioned it a few times here on GLG that the black version of this cake liner is the ultimate black matte liner. The Blue version is exactly that. Yes it takes a bit more work, but the bold payoff is so worth it. If you mix this with something like Make Up For Ever Aqua Seal you can expect it to be bulletproof.
