Clinique's Pop Lacquer Lip Colour + Primer : Review & Swatches

Clinique Pop Lacquer Lip Colour + Primer Review and Swatches

After falling in love with the Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primers last year, I had a feeling it was only a matter of time before the brand came out with a liquid lipstick version. Unlike the trend of uber matte liquid lipsticks of late, the Clinique Pop Lacquer Lip Colour + Primers* are actually a super high shine finish that is meant to stay hydrating with full coverage colour. Right from swatch I knew these lacquers packed serious punch to them, and were so much more than a standard lip gloss.

Clinique Lid Pop Shadows: Packaging Over Pigment?

Clinique Lip Pop Shadow Swatches and Review

When Clinique launched their Cheek Pops a couple years back, the internet went crazy for them. The uber cute Gerbera Daisy motif pressed into a powder so silky some swore it was a cream, put Clinique back on the map in terms of colour cosmetics as far as I am concerned. So when they recently launched the Lip Pops, I had hoped the pigment and quality would live up to reputation. They had the same super sweet design, and some really bold fun colours, but did they live up to the hype?

The Colour Edit : My Favourite Orange Makeup

Orange Makeup : Becca Luminous Blush, Urban Decay Afterglow Highlighter, Smashbox, Stila, Clinique, Kat Von D Rust Quad

I've always been a coral lover, in fact if you see a coral hued lipgloss or blush anywhere chances are I own it or have it on my wishlist. I'm a girl who knows what she likes! Lately though I've been experimenting with corals bolder sister: orange. Now I know it seems like a hard colour for most to pull off, but the right oranges can look amazing on all skin tones. Here's a handful of favourites that learn towards orange that I am loving for Spring and Summer!

Beauty Highlights from 2015

With the dawn of 2016, I can't help but look back on the last year and reflect on some of the highs, and lows of the beauty industry. There were plenty of memorable makeup moments last year, so I thought I'd break it down into 10 categories. I also have my Top 10 Makeup, Skincare and Hair of 2015 posts coming soon, so stand by...

Back to School Beauty

Back to School Beauty - IT Cosmetics CC Cream, Jack Black Lip Balm, Loreal Infallible, Shu Uemura lash curler, sephora

While it's been a good stretch since I've been in that back to school frame of mind, but I do remember those days like they were yesterday (don't ask how long ago they actually were, I'll never tell!). I can remember hitting the snooze way too many times, heck I still do, and savoring every last minute of sleep... wait a minute, isn't that my day to day life now?
Regardless, here are my pics for quick and easy beauty to look wide eyed and pulled together, whether you're going back to school, back to work, or just need that 10 more minutes of shut eye.

The Repurchase Edit | Beauty Products I Apparently Can't Be Without

Repurchased and Holy Grail Haul, smashbox, dove, clinique, clarins, mac

I've noticed a bit of a pattern in my purchases lately. Certain products have just made it into the 'forever repurchase' category and my last shopping trip was entirely fill with said products. Now, I'm not going to lie, it isn't quite as exciting to haul repeat buys versus new exciting pretty products, but there is a satisfaction there of knowing it's tried and true. Perhaps even 'holy grail'... I know I went there. Read on for a breakdown of the beauty products I just can't stop using...

The Friday Face | Peach Monochrome

peach monochrome makeup, mac coral bliss, clinique melon pop, mac 109 brush, nyc liquid liner, benefit roller lash, benefit gimme brow, mac paint pot perky, mac paradisco eyeshadow
Occassionaly I like my makeup so much I take a picture of myself and post it on the internet. I find it kind of terrifying, honestly
Recently I've been really digging the whole monochrome look, namely with shades of soft peach, and apparently others are too, because it seems to be the look I get most complimented on! So here's a breakdown of my current favourite peach hued cosmetics for how I got this look:

Fighting Adult and Hormonal Acne and Breakouts | What's Worked For Me

treating adult acne, hormonal acne, cystic breakouts, clinique, clarins, nexcare, clean and clear

Well I can honestly say I never thought I'd be writing this post if you'd asked me a couple years ago. While many people suffer some form of acne or tragic breakouts in their teenage years, I was the kid who just had really good skin. It didn't matter what I put on it, or what I ate, or even what time of the month it was. Pimples, zits, breakouts, blemishes, spots - whatever you want to refer to them as : I never had them.
So imagine my surprise when I hit 30 and suddenly me skin decided it hated me? I had no clue what to use or change in my routine. Lots of trial and error later, and I've come up with some products that have really helped me get a handle on the situation.

Coincidentally this is also my favourite time of the month for all the other beauty blogs that post their favourites. Because shopping.

5 Favourite Blushes for Summer

We're only a few short weeks to kicking off Summer in this part of the world, and I for one feel like that is the perfect time to profess my love for a good warm weather hued blush. This time of year I tend to lean more to warmer corals, pinks and of course peaches, which seem to naturally be more flattering on sun kissed skin (or rather bottled sun kissed skin!). Here's my top picks for five blushes I don't plan on being without for the next few months.

Favourites | The Best in Beauty for April 2015

april 2015 makeup and beauty favourites. kat von d mad max brown, dior star foundation, benefit gimme brow, mac paint pot, beauty blender, clinique melon pop,

It's been a little quieter around here these last couple weeks, but that doesn't mean I haven't be loving several makeup products this month. I've rounded up a handful of new and old discoveries that I've been reaching for constantly this month to share with you, so let's take a look!

Things It Took Me Too Long To Learn | Lessons in Skincare

skincare necessities clarins, neutrogena, clinique, the body shop

Something I remember thinking what as load of you-know-what that others always told me was the old, "wait until you hit 30 and your skin changes", line. I mean, my skin had pretty much been the same my entire life - dry and relatively unscathed by blemishes (even in my teen years... I know, I got lucky!). Then I hit 30 and low and behold my skin went nuts. I started to really pay attention to my skins needs and realized there were alot of things I was a late bloomer on that probably could have helped me earlier.

New Kid On the Block | Clinique Cheek Pop and Lip Colour + Primer in Melon Pop

Clinique Melon Pop Cheek pop blush, Lip Colour + Primer Melon Pop

There's a good chance that if a brand makes a peach hued blush and/or lip colour, then I've tried it. The obsession is real.
Recently Clinique released a slew of new shades of their much loved Cheek Pop Blushes, one being named Melon Pop - which naturally I had to have. They've also released a new lip colour line called Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer and surprise surprise, there is one named Melon Pop. I was sold.

My Evening Skincare Routine

Evening skincare routine with clinique, hydraluron, origins, rapidlash, kiehls, the body shop, clarins

I've been meaning to write this post for ages now, probably since I really hammered down my nighttime skincare routine to a ten minute art. The last two years have brought some serious changes in my skin (that whole getting older hormones thing really sucks BTW) and it took a lot of trial and error to get a cocktail of products that all seemed to work as a team together for my dry dehydrated with hormonal breakout bound skin.

FAVOURITES | 6 Beauty Loves for August 2014

Another month behind us and I have another handful of products that I found myself really loving. Five out of six of these were new to me in the month of August, making it a pretty successful month for newness. Let's take a gander, shall we...

FLOPS | 5 Beauty Letdowns for June 2014

Every month I bring forth my favourite beauty bits, but lets face it, there are always a few duds (hey, it happens to us all!) So lets go through the five items that flopped for me in June - no offence if they are your very favourite of life product, they just didn't work for me. Ok? Ok.

BRONZED | My Go To Products for a Summer Glow

Something I have become quite old hand at if I do say so myself, is self tanning. I can remember nights bathing in biscuity smelling Coppertone tanning cream when I was 16 hoping to look like I'd just stepped away from a weekend in the tropics. The results were less then stellar usually, but a good learning experience no doubt. I'm sure Coppertone has come a long way with tanners, and so have I; Here's my picks for best bronzed glow with the least chance of the dreaded Oompa Loompa Syndrome.
