If ever a MAC limited edition release seemed made for me! The MAC x Ellie Goulding collaboration is laced with super wearable everyday peaches and pinks. The collection screams of something I would gravitate towards and I would highly suggest if you love a great nudey-peach or golden pink, you head to your nearest MAC counter or get online now before its long gone.
I love it when MAC does special edition packaging for collections, I think it just gives them a little something special. They went with Ellie's trademark initials in a triangle and glossy black packaging as opposed to the classic matte black. The only pieces from the collection that don't have this are permanent in the regular line, for example the Pink Rebel Lustre Drops* shown above. Ellie, who's music I've loved since early days (with exception to the 50 Shades soundtrack tune Love Me Like You Do - sorry Ellie, cringe) has made somewhat of a signature look for herself with a flick of black liner, bronzed cheeks, peachy or pink lips and her incredible golden hair. Rarely do you see her in other shades - clearly she knows what works for her (and does it!) and rocks the golden goddess thing as much a possible.
The collection is well rounded with permanent features and then spotlights with the limited edition Halcyon Days and Halcyon Nights multi purpose face palettes, a bronze/blush duo, two sets of lashes (corner and individual) and six lip products.
I got my hands on the two PatentPolish Lip Pencils - the shades Innocent* (a sheer peachy beige) and Revved* (a warm juicy peach), the two Creamsheen Lipsticks - shades Without Your Love* ( a sheer warm seashell pink, that you've seen me wearing on Instagram plenty this month!) and Only You* (a coral laced warm pink) as well as one of the Plushglass offerings in Goodness Gracious* (a creamy warm peachy pink). I think the lip products are really the standout of the collection; Each shade is so soft and wearable for everyday use, I am almost a little surprised this wasn't launched in the Spring of Summer given the shade range. Usually during the cooler months (in this hemisphere anyways!) MAC loves to release collections that have heavy emphasis around lip liners, vampy plums and reds and smokey lids, so I think it's refreshing to see Ellie's golden pinks and bronzed cheeks!
The collection is really focused around a black winged liner, plenty of mascara (or lashes) bronzed cheeks and soft peach, coral and pink based nudes on the lips. When I explained the concept of the Ellie Goulding collab to my BF on the phone the other day the first thing she said was, "So basically it's a collection made for you" and I couldn't help but agree - these are the shades I like to wear, feel comfortable in, and don't need the maintenance of mirror application that I can't stand. While I love that MAC as a brand loves to push the envelope and get more colour out there in the world, sometimes this girl just needs a little peachy pink gloss in her life, ya know?
Have you tried any of the Ellie Goulding x MAC collection?
