A couple weeks back the lovely Holly over at Bloomin' Rouge created a tag post with some fantastic questions that any beauty lover would love to answer - We're talking pet peeves, makeup artist groupies and guilty pleasures! Keep reading to see my answers, and think about what your answers would be as well!
Now I could personally talk about makeup all day every day, but I secretly love it when people ask me specific beauty-related questions. Holly's questions are real thinkers which I could probably expand upon plenty, but I'll try and keep it short for the sake of you all reading. *cracks neck and knuckles and get's typing*
1. If you could have anyone in the world do your makeup, who would it be?
This is a tie for me. It would be between Charlotte Tilbury, who I'd love to get one of her signature cat eyed looks from, or Lisa Eldridge who manages to make every single face look absolutely flawless and stunningly beautiful.
2. What's your top makeup tip?
If you want to build volume through lashes, sweep the wand vertically from inner to outer corner of lashes a couple times before doing the old 'wiggle and pull' up through lashes. It deposits more product and then you can work on separation when you pull the wand through as normal.
3. What one makeup item could you not live without?
Just one!? Now that's just cruel... probably mascara. I have long lashes but they are super fine and my eyes just look tired and small without mascara.
4. What one skincare item could you not live without?
Lip balm hands down. I have always had horribly chapped and dry lips without a good lip balm handy, and my lips get burny and raw feeling if I get stuck without some sort of moisture for more than a few hours. I'd be in my own personal hell if all my balm was taken away from me tomorrow...
5. What are you worst at when it comes to applying makeup?
False lashes, hands down. I've only ever worn them a handful of times in my life, and for the life of me can't get them to sit right, or they pop off, or they lift in the corner. It just ain't my strong suit.
6. What's your biggest pet peeve when it comes to beauty?
Again, just one!? Oh boy this topic I could probably go on and on about, but I'm going to have to say concealer-like nude lipsticks are at the top of my list, shortly followed by grey stripes passing off as 'contouring'. I just find it hard to see how the uber pale lips that are the same shade as your foundation are flattering on anyone...
7. What's your favourite makeup era?
The 60's for sure. I love all the cut-crease, Twiggy-esque lashes and black winged liner looks, paired with the bronzed freckles and flower power pastels of the Summer of Love generation.
8. What's your guilty pleasure product?
Purple eyeshadows in general. I don't wear them nearly enough to justify spending on them, but yet they keep catching my eye when I am out shopping. Purple used to be my neutral, but as I've gotten older I rarely bust them out anymore. I don't even want to count how many I have...
9. What's your underdog product?
I'd say Illamasqua Hydra Veil - it's such an incredible hydrating skincare product that primes the skin so well for foundation. I wish it was easier to get ahold of (you can only get it online in North America now) since it's my tried and true favourite I hold on to for special occasions now.
10. What's your favourite makeup product of 2015?
Yikes, I had so many favourites from 2015 (I did a whole post about my Top Ten Makeup of 2015) but I'd say the Charlotte Tilbury Rock 'n' Kohl Iconic Liquid Eyeliner Pencil in Barbarella Brown. It is so pigmented, super creamy, and then sets all darn day long! I love using it in the waterline and for tightlining since it applies so easily and doesn't make it's way into my inner corners all goopy-like. I've sharpened mine down to a nub, and will repurchase over and over... and over.
I'd love it if you all do this tag, either in the comments below or on your own blog and let me know so I can read!
