Usually by the time Autumn rolls around I am totally ready for chunky knit sweaters, boots and the ability to wear jeans and not feel like I am trapped in a sweaty denim hell. I'm also ready to switch up my makeup a bit and wear some tones that seem easier to pull off in the cooler crisper months. Keep reading for my my picks for the perfect transition into Fall makeup with my Autumn Beauty Edit for 2015.
Come the cooler months I find myself reaching for a base that has a bit more of a nourishing quality to it, and more coverage since my skin tends to get quite rosey in the crisper weather. Without fail I always reach for Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation, which always looks flawless and is incredibly buildable. I also find this foundation wears really well over, as well as mixes with glow enhancing bases, such as Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow. I love to smooth this on before my foundation to bring some luminosity to my face, which is especially needed during the drier months. I would say that this is one of the few 'glow-enhancing' products I've used that is totally suitable for all skin types - it sinks in like a serum meaning oily, combo and dry skins can all appreciate this!
Speaking of glow, come the cooler months I often find my skin looking dull. I generally back off the bronzer a bit this time of year and prefer to have more of a flushed cheek with a bit of highlight on the tops of cheek bones. This year I am reaching for Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Dazzled, which is a beautiful muted dusty rose, and Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop -a gorgeous peachy golden shimmer. I'll buff the blush from apples upwards towards temples, and then dust on some glow along the tops of cheekbones with a light hand.
The cooler months always have me wanted to dry a darker lip. This year I've already been loving the Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick in After Dark, a gorgeous plummy magenta, for a velvety smooth finish that doesn't dry out the lips. Another great find has been Velvet 59 Matte to the Max Liquid Lipstick in Kai-Lea, which no surprise is a very Kylie Jenner-esque pinky brown neutral, and possibly the only liquid lipstick formula I've found to be actually comfortable on the lips, yet doesn't transfer at all!
Finally, since I've been wanting to wear a darker lip I've been loving the idea of a wash of shimmer on the lids and a flick of liner. I've actually really been enjoying the Becca Champagne Pop patted onto lids as a shadow (love a good multi purpose product!) and then Kat Von D's Tattoo Liner in Mad Max Brown winged out a bit in the corners. Naturally I finish things off with lashings of Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes Mascara, as it has officially become my favourite mascara. Mine's feeling a bit dry, which means a trip to the Charlotte Tilbury counter is going to have to happen very soon...
