Battling Sensitive Skin with Aveeno Skin Relief

Growing up, Aveeno was a mainstay in our household. The entire family had skin sensitivity issues from Keratosis Pilaris, Psoriasis to Eczema, and careful thought was always put into what products we used. As an adult, I've still struggled with extremely dry, sometimes itchy skin and Aveeno has held up it's end of the bargain to keep things soothed, hydrated and soft. I've partnered up with AVEENO® Skin Relief to spotlight three products I've used and enjoyed when it comes to sensitive, sometimes irritable skin.

Aveeno's Skin Relief line relies on natural colloidal oatmeal (long known as a skin soother) and rich emollients to work as a protection barrier against daily elements that can cause your skin to feel dry, itchy or even cracked. These ingredients have been clinically proven to relieve these symptoms which so many of us struggle day to day.

Those who struggle with dry, sensitive skin will know that shower/bath time can wreak havoc on your skin. I find most shower gels stripping, and full of fragrance which can really irritate the Keratosis Pilaris I have on my arms and Eczema-prone legs. The Aveeno Skin Relief Body Wash is available in a fragrance free formula so it not only is unisex, but won't interfere with the scents you choose to wear like your perfume or cologne. It lathers into a rich foam that feels silky on the skin, rather than soapy, and leaves no residue behind so you still get that fresh clean feel without the 'squeaky' clean feel.

After the shower, I've relied on Aveeno's Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion on and off for years -it's always been the product I fall back on when nothing else seems to do the trick. It has a gel-creme like texture that sinks in almost immediately, which makes it awesome for post shower application (no more trying to get your skinny jeans on with sticky legs!) and it soothes freshly shaved bits instantly. I tend to get red, hot skin after showers and this evens the tone so quickly; If you've struggled with Keratosis Pilaris (those tiny red bumps that are usually on the backs of arms and legs) this is awesome for reducing the redness!

Now some of you may know that up until recently I was a silversmith that ran a jewellery business. For ten years I struggled with dry, rough hands due to constant use of a torch, saw, files and several handwashing per hour. I wish I had the Aveeno Skin Relief Hand Cream when I was still working - it does everything you need when it comes to a handcream. The lightweight texture absorbs super fast, it leaves a silky rather that tacky or greasy feel, and doesn't have a cloying scent (again, it's fragrance free!). This was the one Aveeno product I hadn't tried before, and I am so glad I got a chance to because it is wonderful - and I'm such a hand cream snob!
