Much like a good T Shirt, when you find a foundation you love, I find it's worth having in more than one shade. Whether it be a beach holiday, or in my case, usually a self tanner, sometimes our skin changes tone and our makeup can have a tough job adapting to that. I've gone through my foundation drawer, and pulled four different formulas I have in multiple, and jotted down a few reasons why. Let's break it down...
MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation - Great for the days when you want solid medium coverage and spf all wrapped into one. This particular foundation is a creamy mousse like texture that I find mixes really well with other bases and liquid/cream luminizers really well. I own it in NW15* (note I normally would wear NW20 but I find this foundation runs a shade darker) and NW30.
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation has got an awesome glow factor with an even awesomer (let's pretend that is a word) drugstore price. Its a cream texture that feels luxe on the skin and leaves a radiancy minus actual shimmer. I own it in shades 100 and 303.
Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua is a super light weight liquid makeup that I find applies best with fingers, making it the slap on and go choice. Paired with an SPF 15 it's a great every day foundation for those who like a light to medium coverage and that "you can't tell I am wearing makeup" look. I own it in B20 and B30.
And we come to my favourite of all, Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation. A cream texture that can be mixed, sheered or worn full coverage. I absolutely love the versatility of this foundation. I prefer a dense buffing brush with this, and have been known to mix this with other foundations to give them more coverage. With the longest lasting power out of the four, and the lack of SPF, this is my absolute go to when I know I will be photographed, want my skin to look utterly flawless, or need my makeup to last into the wee hours. I own it in shades 5.5, 8 and 11.
Do you have a foundation that you own in more than one shade?
