Sunday Steals | The Overnight Breakout Fighter: Nexcare Acne Absorbing Covers

Nexcare acne absorbing covers

It's Sunday and I'm back with another Sunday Steal post for you all. This one is a bit strange, not gonna lie, but it works like a hot damn (I was really skeptical) and can be found at your drugstore.

I had seen some hype about the Nexcare Acne Absorbing Covers online a while back, but it wasn't until i stumbled across them locally that I decided to pick them up to have on the ready. Cause you never know when that mother of all pimples pops up.
Naturally, the universe must have enjoyed the fact that I picked these up and promptly sent me a large painful breakout right on the corner of my chin only days later. So I busted these bad boys out not really expecting much. I followed the instructions (clean, dry skin) and popped one of these translucent patches on and then went to bed. In the morning I was totally impressed: the volcano on my chin was half the size and not nearly as sore (and this was a real biggie folks). Another night, another patch and it was gone, with hardly any pigmentation - unlike the one that popped up weeks ago that I slathered in salicylic acid several times a day and is now a lovely purple scar.

Basically these little patches work similarly to the way blister pads do, and as the box not so elegantly states they 'work like a sponge to absorb pus and oil'. Ugh, seriously Nexcare, that's a touch graphic. They do basically function as such though, and if you are one of those folks that loves the sick satisfaction of knowing something has worked (like seeing the forest of blackheads on one of those nose pore strips) then you might appreciate that when you peel one of these off in the morning, you actually can see all the ick and grime that it drew out of the breakout in question. TMI? Probably, but the proof is in the pudding! Nexcare states you can wear them under makeup, but I really can't see how that would work. They are surprisingly undetectable on the skin, but I personally wouldn't leave the house wearing one!

I probably wouldn't use these on tiny little whiteheads or itty bitty, gone the next day spots, but rather keep these for those lovely hormonal stay-around-for-all-of-eternity spots. I'll take all the help I can get with those! I don't plan on running out anytime soon, and for about $10 I think they are a total bargain.

Have you tried the Nexcare Acne Absorbing Covers? What is your go-to for breakouts?
