You all know by now I love trying out a new mascara. The excitement was real when I stumbled across the Maybelline Lash Sensational display in my local drugstore the other day. I snatched up a waterproof tube in the blacked formula and gave it a try. Naturally I took before and afters for you all!

Please excuse the unfilled in brows!

A first sight I was curious about this because the brush - the synthetic bristles reminded me of Covergirl Clump Crusher, a mascara that sadly smudged and wilted my lashes like crazy. The subtle curve with longer bristles on the outer edge and tighter shorter ones really mean you can get in to every little lash, even the bottom ones if you so desire.

You can see by the before and afters what it looks my lashes look like with no mascara (image #1) one coat, two coats and then three coats (images #1-3). At first application I could tell that this mascara layered well, though with all synthetic mascara wands prefer to work one eye at a time, layering before the mascara has had time to fully dry. The bristles allow for a good amount of length and great definition, which I'll give up to the fairly wet formula. I didn't get quite as much volume as I wanted, but all in all felt like this was very comparable to my favourite, L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara. So, if you don't fancy the funky wand on the L'oreal, this one is slightly less ominous and user friendly!

As for wearability, the formula was super black, lasted all day without flaking and as you can tell, held the curl in my lashes well. My only caveat would be that it was slightly tougher to get off at the end of the night, something I've found with Maybelline mascaras in the past. My usual oil cleansers or cleansing balm doesn't quite get rid of it on the first try. Not a big concern for your's truly, but for those were super sensitive eyes a heads up.
