If you're new to Girl Loves Gloss, you may not know that the Yves Saint Laurent Glossy Stain in #27 is one of my all time holy grail lip products. I fell in love with the long-wearing glossy formula the minute they launched, and since then the brand has had a few versions but none have really 'got me' like the original has, until they launched the Vinyl Cream Lip Stains... Keep reading to see swatches and my review as well as enter to win the giveaway at the end!
The YSL Vinyl Cream Lip Stains take everything I love in the originally Glossy Stain formula (long-wearing, hydrating, luscious colour) and amp it up. The pigmentation on these is incredibly rich and velvety and applies evenly in each stroke. Unlike the glossy stains, I don't feel the need to build up as many layers to get full opacity, and these have more of a creamy lipstick look than a gelly-like gloss.
Much the same as their predecessors, these are super hydrating and plump looking on the lips. The idea of lip stains, liquid lipsticks and long wear anything for a girl with dry lips can be daunting, but these are so comfortable! The stain is almost instant as well, meaning as these do slowly wear off, there is colour left behind so that the signs of needing to reapply are not obvious.
Housed in the same squared off tubes as the originals, just in solid black with the signature gold YSL logo, these are totally chic and not overly ostentatious as some of the YSL products can be (we all love them, but subtlety isn't exactly the name of the game with most of YSL lipsticks). I love the applicators on these as well; Rather than a traditional doe foot, the wand has a diamond shaped applicator that has a bit of a well in it that holds the product. These applicators allow precision along the lip lines, as well as glide easily when applying the colour without having to redip.
I will say the only downfall for me personally is the shade range is very red heavy, and there is really only one nude (the shade shown above is 404 Nude Pulse). There are plenty of bright pinks, roses and reds - but I would love a grape purple and a couple more peach/coral shades to even things out a bit. Hopefully, YSL continues to expand these range as they have done with the Glossy Lip Stains because the formula is really fabulous!
