If there is a brand that has been launching one incredible collection after another this year, it is Urban Decay. With the launch of their massive 100 shade Vice Lipstick range (more on that coming soon!), and the revamped liquid liners by way of the new 20 shade Razor Sharp Liquid Eyeliner, there is certainly no shortage of colour! I've got 11 of them and have had a play to put together a review for you, so keep reading for swatches and my thoughts...
One thing I noticed right away about the Urban Decay Razor Sharp Liquid Eyeliners is that they claim to be water resistant, not waterproof (as the original 24/7 Liquid Liners ones did). I personally never found the original formula overly waterproof and had issues with it flaking off in chunks. This is a top concern for me due to being blessed with perpetually watery eyes. After wearing well over 10 hours, I can attest that these don't flake, but do wear away in the inner corners a bit (most eyeliners do on me, for what its worth!). They are most definitely water resistant, to the point of giving a makeup wipe a tough time when I was trying to remove my swatches, but I didn't need an oil based remover to get the job done.
Probably the best selling feature on these, besides the incredible colour range, is the incredible fine tip brush applicator. These rival any liquid liner I've used in terms of having a teeny tiny little brush - the name Razor Sharp is 100% accurate! This little brush makes getting the most precise, thin line along the lashes possible, and can cut the sharpest winged liner. I would say though that if you prefer more than a very thin flick of liner, then it takes a little longer to build up because of the small size of the applicator. I'm guessing this is something most would willing sacrifice to have a cleaner, crisper line without the need for clean up!
Touching back on the shade range, there are twenty (!!!) different shades in a variety of finishes including cream, metallic and glitter. The most unique shades, in my opinion, are Fireball which mimics the Afterglow Highlighter of the same name (a gorgeous golden shift coral), Bump (opaque cream white), Deep End (mermaid worthy teal shimmer) and Zodiac (not pictured; a black base with blue-green shift). While I found the cream shades to be the most opaque (though didn't entirely dry matte, which I would have preferred), the metallic shades seemed to last a little longer before fading. The texture is thin, and very liquidy on these; You MUST shake them well to get good application, but I did find them buildable to an extent.
If you've been looking for a super precise liquid liner to combat an unsteady hand, for more detail work, or cut the sharpest winged liner of life, the Urban Decay Razor Sharp Liquid Liners are most definitely a great choice! The colour selection is fabulous; Expect platinum to grassy green, Barbie Pink to inky carbon black and everything in between!
What shade do you think you'd like to try the most? What do you think about using such a small, precise brush to put on liquid liner?
