Though relatively new to the beauty world, Tom Ford has made a name for itself when it comes to incredible quality luxury cosmetics I've been dying to try the much touted lipstick formula for sometime, and when I saw the new Soleil Collection for Summer was releasing the limited edition Moisturecore Lip Color* I was instantly intrigued. I got my hands on three of the six shade release and put them to the test to see if they were worth all the fuss (and $$$!).
The Tom Ford Moisturecore Lip Colors are marketed as a lightweight lipstick formula with innovative moisturizing liquid core. The liquid core is full of passion fruit oil, melon fruit extract and murumuru butter amongst other hydrating ingredients in order to keep lips looking lush. While they certainly aren't the first brand to do something like this, the Moisturecore Lip Colors really accomplish what they aim for: a wonderfully hydrating lipstick without compromising pigment. if you're thinking these are a tinted balm, they are SO much more than that when it comes to the quality of colour and texture.
I often find lipstick formulas that are meant to be sheer don't show up on my extra rosy lips (and most tinted lipbalms don't for reference) but these do beautifully! They apply featherlight, with no sign of waxy/greasy feel, and blanket the lips evenly in a wash of colour, even if your lips are dry like mine perpetually are. Even the paler shade I tried applied smoothly, and didn't gather into the lines which is so common for lighter lipstick colours.
I tried out three of the size shades in the collection: Carriacou which is a warm peach, Mustique which is a soft petal pink, and Pipa which is a warm rose. All three performed exactly what I would expect for a luxury lip product. At the end of the day, the gorgeous white and gold squared off packaging is lush and looks as expensive as it is, but the product inside also lives up to the hype which both thrills me and makes my wallet cry.
Tell me I'm not the only one who *almost* doesn't want to love a high end beauty product?
