We're a couple days into November now and I feel like the Vancouver weather has suddenly caught on that this is normally the dreary season. The last few weeks have been rainy, cooler in temperature and have wrecked a little havoc with my skin. This of course has led to some incredible skincare bits in my favourites this month, as well as some more Autumnal makeup choices. Keep reading to find out what I kept reaching for this last month...
When it comes to skincare, I have three new to me products that became favourites for the month of October that I am excited to share with you.
Firstly a cleanser that I can thank my Grandmother for getting me hooked on (to be fair, it's my own fault for introducing her to the Tata Harper range in the first place...) - the Tata Harper Refreshing Cleanser. Besides the fact that this smells insanely good like grapefruit and oranges (real, not that artificial sickly sweet candy smell), it feels so wonderful on the skin; It's actually refreshing as the name suggests! I love this as a morning cleanse, or second cleanse in the evening once I've removed my makeup, and my dry, dehydrated, sensitive skin has responded so well to it. After using it, my skin feels smooth, hydrated and radiant, and the gorgeous frosted green glass bottle with pump looks beautiful on the vanity which certainly doesn't hurt!
New in the oil department is the Pixi SkinTreats Rose Oil Blend*, which as the name aptly hints to, smells divinely of roses. I've been patting this oil on my face nice and day for the better part of a month and my skin has felt amazing. Unlike some oils, I feel like I can get away with wearing this under makeup without worrying about it separating or getting greasy. It's made of Rosehip, Almond, Jojoba, Pomegranate and Rose Geranium Oils which are meant nourish the skin and restore luminosity back to the complexion.
Finally when I really need to kick the moisture into high gear, or my skin has been misbehaving, I reach for the do-it-all-fixer-of-everything, May Lindstrom The Blue Cocoon*. As Caroline Hirons once referred to it as, this is the 'talking to baby Jesus cream' - also known to me as 'the balm to smother my face in when the skin just don't look right'. Packed full of incredible ingredients such as Blue Tansy which eases anxiety and creates a heat that provides relief and nourishment to delicate, inflamed or irritable skin. The balm itself is actually blue, and smells incredibly 'spa-like' for lack of a better term and you need the smallest pea-sized amount for your entire face and neck.
On the makeup front, there were three products that stood out as being reached for many times over the last month.
Firstly was Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Stick, which I reviewed here. This foundation is the perfect choice for something who just doesn't have the time to spend on blending and getting a flawless base. You can swipe this on, and blend it out in seconds completely varying how much coverage you want. Perfect for travel, perfect for the Mum doing the school run, perfect if you want 5 more minutes of sleep.
Secondly, an old classic and the first ever purchase I made from Sephora back in the day - Stila Kitten Eyeshadow. This champagne shimmer shadow is probably the brands most well lovely offering, and it's no surprise wise; It's simply stunning on the lid. I love to pat this on the lid all on its own, with smokey liner or a flicked out cat eyeliner for a super simple yet polished look.
Thirdly, a new liner on the market - the Urban Decay 24/7 Waterline Pencils.* These are actually designed to be worn in the waterline (or inner rim of your eye). These set to a demi-matte waterproof finish and actually do set in the waterline and last! These have the same glide that the original 24/7 pencils have, but set up super fast and don't gather in the inner corners of the eyes.
Finally, I have a nail favourite in the form of Essie Fun In The Gondola - a gorgeous warm rose pink that has become my new neutral. Something about this shade just works with everything I wear, and the creamy opaque formula keeps it fresh and modern for tips and toes!
What were your favourite beauty products for October? Have you tried any of the products on my list?
