You all know I'm a sucker for anything peach-hued, so when I saw a seasonal L'Oreal stand in my local drugstore with one of their
Color Riche L'Ombre Pure Eyeshadows in the shade Pin up Pink, I knew it was meant to be mine. I'd heard a lot about these from my fave British beauty bloggers, but had yet to see them anywhere on this side of the pond so I jumped at the chance to put one in my shopping basket!
Upon first impression I was totally sold on the gorgeous swirly pattern, which was very reminiscent of the MAC Extra Dimension shadows. I was expecting a buttery texture like the L'Oreal Infallible range, but was quite surprised to see that this had a very dry texture, like a baked shadow (again much like the MAC shadows mentioned).
Initially this worried me that it wouldn't swatch or apply well, since drier in texture powder products can be quite dusty and lacking pigment, but am thrilled to report back that this both swatched gorgeously as well as applied smoothly. There was no fall out, or powdery finish, and it applied equally well with my finger and a brush (which can sometimes be a struggle for drier formulas)
The color itself is a stunning gold laced peach. The shimmer isn't as intense or metallic as the Infallible range, but rather gives a glowing, almost duo-chrome effect. My swatch does it absolutely no justice; This shadow is absolutely stunning in person! I also found the lasting time strong, the colour was still going 10 hours in!
My only complaint is that there were only two shades available in the collection, this shade (507 Pin Up Pink) and a turquoise, which just isn't in my colour rotation these days. I know in the UK there are plenty of gorgeous neutral shades as well as pops of colour, so we can only hope the range comes this way soon because at under $8 CND I would say these are a total bargain!
Have you tried any of the L'Oreal Color Riche L'Ombre Pure Mono Eyeshadows? Which shades are your favourite?
