When the weather gets warmer and the Summer rolls around, getting your makeup to last and stay fresh can be a serious challenge. I for one don't love touching up my makeup throughout the day unless it's lip colour, and I especially don't love toting around makeup in my handbag just in case it melts off my face. So after plenty of trial and error (and a trip to Florida last September), I've learned which product stand the test of time (and heat, and humidity).
When it comes to a flawless base, I always reach for my Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation for buildable coverage minus caking. It's one of the few foundations my skin doesn't seem to eat during the day. Speaking of eating makeup, blush and bronzer tend to go that route with me as well, and Tarte hands down makes the longest lasting blush and bronzer out there - heck the bronzer even boasts being waterproof! I choose the Park Ave Princess Matte Bronzer and Tipsy is my top choice for a nice pop of coral blush in the summer. Then to set it all if I feel I might get a touch shiney or need to set my base, its always Mac Mineralized SkinFinish Natural when in doubt for me.
I'm all about the long wearing eye products all year long, especially so when the sun comes out. Where black liner is concerned, in my books it needs to be matte, waterproof and blacker than black. Two I've come to love are the Tarte Tartiest Clay Liner for those winged liner days, and Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Perversion for waterline/tightlining, or days when I wanna smudge things out a bit then trust they will set. For a little colour, Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams need no introduction on GLG, I've raved plenty. Same goes for the L'Oreal Infallible Shadows - no creasing, fading or migrating. Another handy option are the Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks which come in a swivel up crayon that needs no sharpener.
Finally, something that is a 'dont-leave-the-house-without' is a filled in brow. I don't want my eyebrows picking up camp and finding a new home anywhere on my face other than where they belong. I've tried so many products over the years that either fade away, pill off, or go crusty (so many eyebrow gels do this!). Finally I came across my dream team of long lasting face framing goodness: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade in Ash Brown, and then set with Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium/Deep. No more crayon brows, no more eyebrow dandruff from crusty gels, no more disappearing brow act. Let's all be thankful.
