We quite often get the phrase "oil free" rubbed in our faces, don't we? The word "oil" seems to always have a negative connotation to it, but lets get one thing straight, oil does not equal grease. I always harp on about how there are so many products out there these days for oilier skin types, and so few for us dry skinned gals, so when I saw the Sephora Favorites Beauty Oil Essentials Kit and noted that it had a few products I already had my eyes on I knew I had to pick it up.
I know the word oil can be scary, but they can be so wonderful in so many parts of your routine, even for the oiliest of skins! You see, when you put an oil on your skin, it actually soothes your skin from creating even more oil, thus creating balance. Oohhh sounds very zen doesn't it? This kit has several version of oils; cleansing oils, facial oils, body oils, hair oils - heck there is even a lip oil in there!
Several of the items in this kit were already on my to try list, including the NUDE Perfect Cleansing Oil, Alterna Kendi Oil Mist, Bumble and Bumble Hairdressing Oil and the Josie Maran Argan Oil Light (I've tried the original and found it a touch heavy for me) I've also been curious about the Clarins Tonic Body Oil Treatment, with the face oil on my wishlist for ages, I might just have to splurge if I enjoy the body oil.
I've so far just tried a few of the items in the kit, so I'll offer you some quick thoughts, with more to come soon.
The Bumble and Bumble offering made my hair feel better than it has in months. If you read this post, you know my hair has been a really sore subject for me, and this really made it feel lovely.
The NUDE Cleansing Oil got all my makeup off, but I haven't managed to get it to dissolve my waterproof mascara yet. Still on the fence about its abilities with that but my skin did feel lovely after cleansing with it. In addition I gave the NUDE ProGenius Treatment Oil a few times in my night routine and can say that my skin looked amazingly smooth and even the next morning. It's a treat, especially at the full price, so I am thrilled to get it in this set to try!
The Tarte Maracuja Oil is not new to me, I actually tried this a couple years ago when it was first released and remember really liking it. It is one of those oils you can get away with in a morning routine which is worth noting, this might be the one oilier skin types like as it is very balancing.
So there are so first thoughts, I'll be sure to touch base on any other winners in this kit. It should be noted that there is one lip product here, the BITE Beauty Cinnamon Plumping Lip Oil which I will be passing on. Typically those burnyourlipstilltheylookswollen products just don't do it for me. I don't need help in that department and have sensitive skin on and around my lips as it is.
